Splendor in the Grass

Maniago has quickly established itself as one of the leading names in African safaris. Now, with the introduction of their prestigious Luxury Adventure Safari Experience, they have redefined the term luxury. The safari will provide its clients with an unforgettable encounter with the people, wildlife and landscape of one of the last remaining unspoiled regions in the world.

The Luxury Adventure Safari Experience is, as its name suggests, very much an experience, one that has been specially designed to be very personal. The safaris are confined to a maximum of 8 clients to ensure everyone receives the best possible service by Maniago's highly trained and experienced staff. Clients will travel in Maniago's custom made Land Cruisers in groups of no more than four, driven by one of Maniago's knowledgeable guides.

During the ten-day trip, clients will embark on a series of memorable visits and activities that will provide them with a unique insight into Africa and its culture, beginning with an excursion to David Sheldrick's Wildlife Trust. The Trust runs an orphanage for baby elephants and rhinos, and clients will have the unique opportunity to foster an elephant for a year during which time Maniago will oversee its care. Clients will receive a certificate with a photograph of their fostered young elephant, after which they will enjoy a private visit with their elephant.

After taking in the wonder of Lake Naivasha, there's a visit to the beautiful Nyahururu Falls before going on to Ol Ari Nyiro, Laikipia Conservancy, a private game ranch and home to renowned conservationist Kuki Gallman. While there, clients will stay in beautiful lodges with commanding views over the magnificent Rift Valley. They will also enjoy the rare opportunity to meet members of the warrior Pokot tribe.

Following a drive across rugged and spectacular terrain, clients arrive at the Loisaba Conservancy. Once there clients will enjoy an overnight stay at the magical Loisaba Star Beds. Sleeping outside on grand elevated platforms, they will enjoy the romantic and ethereal beauty of an equatorial sky which feels so close it's almost within reach. While at Loisaba, clients will be tended to by the hospitable and gentle Samburu people in traditional costume.

Animal lovers will particularly enjoy the trip to the Masai Mara game reserve with its abundant and varied wildlife. The visit will be highlighted by a meeting with majestic Masai warriors who will then privilege clients by accompanying them on a tour of their village. Another feature of the trip to the Masai Mara is the opportunity to stay at the Leleshwa Luxury Eco-Camp, a totally self-sufficient facility that garners its power through solar energy.

Finally, the more adventurous can take in the magnificent landscape at sunrise from the aerial tranquility of a hot air balloon. Those who prefer the view from ground level can enjoy it sipping a gin and tonic as the sun sets on what will have been a truly wondrous experience.
